Sightings of a Stylist – ASOS Leopard Print Slot Through Clutch

With all our attention turning to Christmas and what we’re going to wear to all the parties and soirees that will be filling our diaries, I thought I’d throw a small curve ball in and start with a leopard print clutch from ASOS.

Now, I havent see the clutch but I thought it would be a great buy as it will ‘funk up’ any LBD without having to go for full gold, pewter or silver shoes and accessories – which is what most people will do. I also love the fact that its oversized rather than a small, delicate clutch.

At £20, I dont think you can go wrong! An absolute steal!

Dont forget to let me know what you think too.

Sightings of a Stylist – J Brand Leather Leggings

One of the key trends for AW11 is leather … If you can’t afford the real McCoy, then make sure you have some ‘pleather’ (aka plastic leather!!) in your wardrobe… don’t say I haven’t warned you!

So much press hype has been created about one specific pair of leather trousers – The J Brand Leather Leggings. They have been donned the ‘must-have’ leather pant for this season and believe me, for the juicy price of  £875, I would want something amazing to happen to my legs – maybe tell me how skinny I look every time I put them on!?

BUT, it seems the hype is true. After a waiting list was created full of avid J Brand fans, my favourite Denim Queen, Donna Ida says “our second delivery of the J Brand leathers has just landed. The first delivery sold out like that” *snaps fingers* so they must be doing something right…

On a serious note, leather trousers really are an investment piece as they don’t date and stay on trend year after year. If you have the cash to splash then these really are worth looking at as you’ll have them for years and if they fit anything like J Brand jeans, then you’re seriously on to a winner!

‘Sightings of a Stylist’ – Lara Bohinc Tatjana Fan Stiletto

I love the fact my sightings can be anything at all – they don’t always have to be fashion related, although this one is…

Anyone that knows me knows I adore monochrome. I feel so at home in black and white… it’s the high colour contrast from the two extremes and nothing can beat the classic colour blocking.

So, you can imagine what happened when I saw these beauties in a local boutique, Black White Denim.

Lara Bohinc Tatjana Fan Stiletto - £525

So elegant and so on trend with the fan detail (plus the platform will elongate your calf, lengthen the leg and give you added comfort)…

These certainly were ‘swoon-tastic’ to me…

If you dont live in the UK or even in the North West of the UK, fear not, you can get them here

(PS: If you dont like the black and white, they come in red too – just to confuse matters even more!!) :-)

Until next time…

MOBO Awards 2011 – Sacha Parkinson

Last night, the MOBOs 2011 were held in Glasgow… A gorgeous and stunning client of mine, Sacha Parkinson was there, and had the  great fortune to be able to present (with the equally stunning Brooke Vincent!) Jessie J with the MOBO for best song!!!

Because the MOBOs aren’t all about the ‘bling’ and glamour, I decided to style Sacha in edgy but feminine. We wantted something that wasnt the usual ‘dress code’ so this Alex Christopher dress was perfect – an up n’ coming designer with unique and limited edition styles that you know no-one will be wearing!

The dress (and belt) is by Alex Christopher who has his own boutiques (http://www.eachtotheirown.co.uk) in Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield.

The ankle boots are Aldo (shoe-boots are quite predictable to ankle boots give it more of a dimension)

The gold chained cuff and ring were from Topshop!

‘Sightings of a Stylist’ – Warehouse Chevron Faux-Fur Jacket

Anyone that knows me, knows that I have a bit of a fetish for faux fur-jackets. I dont know what it is, I am just attracted to it, like a magpie is to sparkle (I am attracted to jewels as well, incase anyone wants to be generous;-))

Warehouse Faux-Fur Chevron Jacket - £100

As far as faux-fur goes, I just loved this as its so striking and has an element of the 60′s going on. Its so different to all the other jackets out there and the price wasnt steep either. Plus, it doesnt feel cheap – which is a major factor you should consider when buying faux-fur as if it doesnt feel good, then it will matt very quickly (imagine a shaggy, wet dog!!)

My picture, I think doesnt do it as much justice as in real life so I also inserted the image from the website so you can fawn in full glory!

So, how do you wear it? Well obviously it’s a jacket so its going to be worn over clothes but, as its so versatile, you can opt to wear it over skinny jeans and boots, or take tribal on board and wear it over a floral dress with either boots or tights and heeled brogues for an on-trend look.

‘Sightings of a Stylist’ – Accessorize LA Luxe Metallic Oversized Clutch

The great thing about this Accessorize clutch is that it’s a bit of a chameleon! By that I mean, if you’re wearing gold accessories or shoes, the bag will look more gold, and if you’re wearing silver, it’ll take on the appearance of a silver clutch. I always like to call this colour ‘pewter’, although I don’t know how right or wrong I am!!

When I was looking for today’s sighting, I didn’t know what was going to make me stop and want to take a snap, until I saw this bag in the
window of the Accessorise store in the Trafford Centre. It’s perfect for this week’s heatwave with a summer dress and it’ll be 100% perfect for your Christmas nights out!

Accessorize LA Luxe Metallic Oversized Clutch - £30

I know it’s not leather which is usually a bugbear of mine but if I have to ask “is it leather” then you know you’re onto a winner.

But I would be quick, as this will sell out very quickly (stock online is saying ‘very low’ already!!).

‘Sightings of a Stylist’ – Alexander McQueen Fuschia Suede Ankle Boot

Last week I spent quite a lot of time scouring websites for dresses for a client so, when I came across today’s sighting, I knew it was a contender for the blog!!

Alexander McQueen Fuschia Suede Ankle Boot - £630

I just LOVE the colour (I know it’s not practical for winter but hey, I’m human too you know!) and if you’re not a fan of fuschia , they also come in red and light grey so there!!

Ankle boots and shoe boots will always be on the catwalk, so I personally think they are worth the £630 price tag and an investment. But, if you want the high street equivalent then look no further than Kurt Geiger that have produced the Ellison, a gorgeous red shoe boot that will set you back £150…

Kurt Geiger Red Ellison Suede Shoe Boot - £150

The red of the boot doesnt do it justice in the image, much brighter and richer in the flesh.

‘Sightings of a Stylist’ – Warehouse Lace Front Peter Pan Blouse

Warehouse Lace Front Peter Pan Blouse - £45

When I saw this blouse, I think my reaction was “ooooh, so cute”… not necessarily a ‘gasp’ but for me, it ticks two of the many AW11 trends:

No 1: The Peter Pan collar obsession that is taking over every high street store as we speak

No 2: White lace, that is starting to filter through into stores like Topshop and Warehouse but by Christmas, will be injected everywhere, in-between the black and navy lace dresses!

I love the shell detailing at the bottom of the top and I think it’s that the makes the top so distinctly different and look worth more than its £45 price tag.

Styling wise, depending on who you are, I would either wear this blouse with dark kick flare jeans and heels or, adopt a juxe-de-position angle and wear with leather trousers and a rock chick studded shoe-boot!

‘Sightings of a Stylist’ – Zara Sheepskin Biker Jacket

When I saw this Zara Sheepskin Jacket, I had to put my hand over my mouth for fear of frightening the shoppers around me with my loud ‘wow’. I only have one word for this…. Stunning!

Zara Sheepskin Biker Jacket - £349

I admit, it doesn’t covet the average Zara price tag for a jacket/coat but its certainly unique and timeless as it doesn’t have the traits of the usual biker jacket, so at £349 it’s something you will need to justify.

That said, if you decide to wear the jacket as your winter coat (and taking into account how naff the UK weather is), your cost per wear will be 1p before you know it!!!

Would love to know what you think of the new blog format so please leave your comments!!! :-)

‘Sightings of a Stylist’ – Hobbs Leopard Print Chelsea Boot

Last week I decided to review what I put into my blog and how I could make it more ‘current’ and ‘reactive’ for you, my fabulous readers. I took inspiration from my amazing twitter followers (in case you don’t already follow me, I am @yourstylist) and asked them what they thought of a blog that had snaps of my favourite finds on the high street? It’s something I already do and upload to Twitter instantly so I thought why not widen the circle and also be able to comment (and not be limited to 140 characters!). As I’m constantly styling or prepping for clients, I’m in stores all the time so I’m seeing these amazing pieces most days…

The Twittersphere spoke and loved the idea so here we are… the first ‘Sightings of a Stylist’ … I’d love to know what you think and more importantly, what you think of the item I have snapped as I know it won’t be to everyone’s taste!!

Tell me how you’d wear it and what with too….

My first ‘sighting’ are these amazing leopard print faux pony skin chelsea boots from the Hobbs Archive Shoe Collection.

Hobbs Leopard Print Faux Pony Skin Chelsea Boot - £229

I literally gasped when I saw these boots and had to rush in and snap them…. The ‘Archive Shoe Collection’ have been created to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of Hobbs. They have taken a selection of shoes that were in the small Hampstead store in 1981 and have revamped them to make them bang on trend for 2011.

I personally love them and had to snap them as firstly, they are limited edition and secondly, they are so un-Hobbs-like!!!

These boots will look amazing with a simple black outfit of tee and skinnies or make it more rock-chick with an on trend rock band tee.

As always. I’d love your thoughts so comment away!

Until next time…
